Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir Escapes The Sales Curse

Last week saw the release of Tecmo and Nintendo’s Fatal Frame spin-off, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir in Japan. The game ranked #7 on the software sales chart for the week, and sold 16,351 copies.

That sounds pretty terrible, doesn’t it?

It turns out, it isn’t. Media-Create say that’s 74.24% of the game’s shipment, which means that most of it sold out. It looks like Nintendo’s estimates were more or less on the mark.

Non-Japanese players will get to play the game, too; Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir is the game’s English title. Nintendo of America confirmed this week that they’ll be releasing the game in April.

I hope this is good; really looking forward to it.  I’m really interested to see how the technology (3D and AR) pans out, and whether it lives up to the scaring potential I think it has.

True this has potential but Bravely Default: Flying Fairy seems like it’s gonna be the first title to truly do some interesting stuff with AR. I might even excuse the the random battles if it can hold my interest the more we learn about it.

What specifically is Bravely Default doing with AR?  I don’t know the details.

I don’t think they’ve gone into full details of how exactly they’re gonna use it in game but they did release an AR demo at TGS that looked much better than anything I thought the AR cards could produce.

Well this makes the things a little bit better, however I think that nintendo needs to try that this game can appeal to more people, I hope that this title can have better results in america.

God, mini-heart attack, there.  I reaaaally don’t like how creepy those Japanese dolls look sometimes.  (Especially when it’s deliberate.)

If this was for the Vita it wouldn’t even be on the top 10 at all.

Good… Now release a REAL fatal frame for the 3ds, not a spin off.

This game is good but THE “Fatal Frame” is better..(Just make sure you will release an English Version) :)

Why on the 3DS? I really see no way in which it’s benefiting by being on the 3DS…

Why not a home console? Hell, at least ask for it on the Wii U what with that controller being perfect for being your in game camera…

And I don’t even like the Wii U all that much conceptually.

I agree, Wii U would be perfect for a game of Zero series, but first…I’d love them to finish and release Zero 2 Remake for Wii that they promised, and even confirmed some months about that it wasn’t dropped, and is still in development.

        True..
But I prefer Handhelds than Home Consoles that’s why I’m wishing a fatal frame for the 3ds.

Why not?  At this point most platforms are acceptable for the series. A 3D ghost photo shoot can be really fun and fans already migrate to 3DS for this game.

A Wii U game (most likely that FF2 remake will move to it since there is a lack of info) is a great idea as well thanks to the contrablet.

I’m hoping that it will do well when it gets released here, in the USA, in April.

This really doesn’t seem like the type of game that will sell well here. I wonder why nintendo of america is taking the risk? Well anyways, if the fans want more installments of these games they need to show that there is a big enough audience for it.

Yeah because the amount of people begging for Fatal Frame 4 a few years back and still to this day wasn’t a good indication. The people who wan’t it will buy it, I’m one of them.

In one way or another, more games coming here is always good :)
      …for consumers at least
