Speculation about Monster Hunter Tri G’s western release has been running wild since the very week the game was announced in Japan. Back in September 2011, shortly after Tri G and Monster Hunter 4 were announced, Capcom USA’s Christian Svensson replied to a forum thread on Capcom’s community site, requesting localized releases for both games.
At the time, Svensson simply stated to fans: “Noted guys. Stay tuned.”
Naturally, this being the Internet and fans being as impatient as they are means that “stay tuned” is no longer a good enough response. Capcom Unity has since continually been bombarded with questions about the western release of Tri G, and to Capcom USA’s credit, they’ve actually tried to provide answers without saying too much.
For instance, in a recent forum thread asking about the lack of a Tri G localization announcement thus far, Svensson replied: “There is method to the madness… that’s all I can say for now. I understand it not being clear or rational to you right now but you’ll see.”
That response wasn’t good enough either, so another thread opened up shortly after the previous one, this one asking: “So are we not getting Monster Hunter Tri G for 3DS?” Svensson’s reply in this thread was far more direct:
“Have we said that? I think it’s fair to say I’ve said everything that I can on this topic without getting myself into trouble. Please be patient.”
It does sound like Monster Hunter Tri G is headed our way at some point, and it would make sense for the game to be announced at E3 this year. The questions we’re left with are who the game will be published by—Capcom or Nintendo—and if it will have online play for the western market.
