Game & Wario Is Wii U’s Equivalent Of WarioWare

Game & Wario (tentative title) for the Wii U is its equivalent of a WarioWare game. It’s a collection of games that use only the Wii U GamePad, and Nintendo detailed a few of these today. Here are the descriptions for the four announced mini-games so far from Nintendo’s summary of Game & Wario:

Arrow – This single-player game transforms the GamePad into a hi-tech bow (shaped like Wario’s mustache, of course) and arrow designed to defeat swarming enemies. Players hold the GamePad vertically with one hand to aim at enemies on the TV screen, while using their other hand to pull the arrow on the GamePad’s touch screen.

Ski – In this single-player game, competitors must lead the skier to the finish line by holding the GamePad vertically and tilting it left or right. The TV monitor will show the skier’s flashy moves to entertain the audience.

Shutter – In this single-player game, the player must use the GamePad like a telephoto camera lens to take photos of criminals hidden in the town before the time runs out.

Fruit – In this game for two to five players, the main player uses the GamePad to anonymously control one of many characters on the TV screen to quietly steal some fruit scattered all over the town. Once the thief completes the mission, the player passes the GamePad to the other players, who then must try to finger the suspect.

Game & Wario will be a Wii U launch title. It’s being developed by Intelligent Systems.

  • Weird name change, so the series is closer to game and watch now?  Either way I cannot complain, I love Wario games.

    • I just hope they maintain the very rapid constantly switching pace of WarioWare microgames. Some of these look like regular boring minigames that takes a few minutes and are just played on their own.

      •  Judging by the screenshots, I think these are just mini games. I see no timer. And the quick-pace of the mini games, was why I love the Wario Ware series. If this really is just a bunch of random mini games, I’ll have to pass :/

  • I fully expect – nay, DEMAND – a return of the party mode from the Gamecube WarioWare. That thing was so, so fun.

Awesome! Hmm I really wanted a 3DS one~ still waiting for that if ever!

I’m gonna be trill with you and AGREE.

watch and wario? As long as the mini game is fun is great.^^

But I hope keeping the old fast pace feeling as that is one of my favorite part of warioware.

Ha ha, oh Wario- always ready to shell out some quick, soulless minigames to a new format. Bless your wicked heart for being so unashamedly YOU.

That being said, this better have the hectic pace of previous Warioware games- that really WAS part of the fun, after all.

Also more Orbulon, 9-volt, Kat and Ana and the oh so lovely Mona~.

Yes! The Wario games have always been some of my favorite that Nintendo has put out, from Wario World to the mini-game collections. Glad to see that on Wii U. Now let’s hope there’s a 3DS version incoming too.

  • LittleMofreaky

I have high hopes for this game. I want WarioWare to be #1 again!

Man, wish this was announced at the press conference. Least we’re getting another Wario Ware game. Can’t wait to play it.
