Time Travelers On PSP Sold Less Than Vita And 3DS Versions

Time Travelers was released on the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita in Japan two weeks ago. The 3DS version sold 9,054 copies while the PlayStation Vita version sold 9,332 copies. The PSP version, which was supposed to come out that same week, was delayed to a week later.

A week later, the PSP version was released, but was nowhere to be found in the top-20 software sales chart. What happened? A quick look at Media Create’s top-50 software sales chart for the week tells the story.

Time Travelers on PSP debuted at the #41 spot on the sales chart the week it was released. By that time, the Nintendo 3DS version was at the #40 spot, while the Vita version was at the #38 spot. So, the PSP version sold less at launch than both the 3DS and Vita versions did in their second week.

In other news, Konami’s Power Pro Baseball games saw a steep decline from last year. Here’s a comparison  of how this year’s games did compared to last year’s during launch week:

Power Pro Baseball 2011 (PS3) – 117,759

Power Pro Baseball 2012 (PS3) – 62,740

Power Pro Baseball 2011 (PSP) – 73,247

Power Pro Baseball 2012 (PSP) – 28,142

Power Pro Baseball 2012 (PSV) – 16,837

Media Create speculate that this could be because fans were waiting for the “Definitive” version of the game that follows the regular releases. They also say it could be due to low awareness of the game, owing to fewer TV commercials.
