Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Screenshots Show Off The Nintendo 3DS Version

By Ishaan . September 19, 2012 . 6:32pm

Capcom have released new screenshots for the Nintendo 3DS version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which is slated for release in March 2013, which you can view below. Keep in mind that these are specifically for the 3DS version.

As previously detailed, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be released for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. You’ll be able to transfer save data between the two versions and both versions will also be cross-compatible for local multiplayer. Additionally, the Wii U version of the game will have online multiplayer as well.

Capcom say Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has over 200 quests. The Nintendo 3DS version of the game allows you to customize your UI on the bottom screen by shifting pieces of it around. You can also remove the health and stamina bars off the top screen and down to the bottom.

I’ll probably pick up the wii U version thanks to it being in HD+having online, but this version looks really good as well
edit: Also, i think the sales for these two versions might determine the fate of the series. If it sells poorly Capcom might not want to localize future projects which would be sad :(

I’m definitely buying MH 3 Ultimate (for 3DS) the day its released to show my support for the series in the West~! The screenshots aren’t making the wait easy though :P~

    • Shane Guidaboni

I’ll definitely buy this for 3DS. I’ve been waiting for them to announce this. If it means us getting MH4, then even better.

  • Dylan Anantha

….Why does it look 10 times nicer that Monster Hunter 4 3DS?

    • MrRobbyM

If you’re comparing it to the new MH4 video, don’t. screenshots, trailers and what it’ll actually look like will never look quite the same. But this does look much smoother.

    • These are upscaled screenshots, that may have something to do with it. 3DS screenshots tend to be very misleading when taken natively (they look terrible).

      • PreyMantis

Nope. The game is as good-looking as this. It’s hard to show it because screen-shots and videos don’t give 3DS games justice. You just have to play it in person to understand how good they really are.

        • That’s exactly what I meant… they have to upscale the screenshots like this to keep the from game looking worse than it really is.

          • PreyMantis

Ahhh… It seems like some of us got confused with your last post. It just sounded like you were saying the opposite of what really happens with the screenshots/videos of 3DS games.

During a game development cycle, making a game look pretty is done much later.

though MH3 was originally developed on a console reusing alot of assets
MH4 is being done on a Handheld much weaker than platform the last game was made on.. not gonna look as nice.

    • Suicunesol

The screenshots here are clearly taken at a higher resolution. The game won’t look like this.

  • XypherCode

So hyped! Gonna get both :))

  • Is this really 3DS gameplay screen or it WiiU?

    • Zal_Yagun

Look closer at an image and you start to see the low-res truth.

Looks like the PSP installments, but with some bloom and defined shadows.
Damn though. Shadows are always a welcome addition

    • Peace Legacy

Read the article carefully, will ya’

  • Spider-Man

Never thought I’d live to see this game get localized.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Going to get both of the release here when they arrive here.^_^ One for me to take around playing and then i can connect for Wii U version there to play online with more people there.^_^

  • PreyMantis

I hope everyone who owns a 3DS and/or will own a Wii U buys the game(s) just to prove to Capcom that we want these games here.

  • keithmaxx

The visual quality of the video from the previous trailer made the game look rather blocky, but the images here are rather okay. I know this is not the final quality, and yet when I remember that this is gonna be on both Wii U (HD) and 3DS (3D), I can’t help but smile from ear to ear. :D

  • Btw, there a Monhun manga base on this and Portable 3rd, just sayin. (Its not translated yet, but the name is Monster Hunter Epic if you want to look it up.)
