Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f Reaches 230,000 Sold

By Ishaan . November 2, 2012 . 11:10am

Last we heard, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f had sold around 186,000 copies on the PlayStation Vita. This was back in late September. Since then, the game has reached 230,000 copies sold, Sega shared in an earnings report this morning.

Sega didn’t specify if they were including download sales in that figure or not. According to a member of the Project Diva development team, download sales at launch amounted to 10% of the game’s retail sales.

The same staff member also suggested that Project Diva f’s development budget may have been a little on the high side in light of the game’s sales, but that the team was trying to make Diva f the best-selling game on Vita in 2012 nonetheless.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f is headed to the PlayStation 3 next. The PS3 version replaces the “f” with an “F” and will add six new songs, along with new modules and other customization items. New modes are planned as well.

Food for thought:

Atlus parent company, Index, reported that Persona 4: Golden has crossed  260,000 copies sold in Japan, so depending on whether or not Sega and Index are including download sales in their figures, and what those amount to, Project Diva f may not have achieved its goal of highest-selling Vita game this year.

Bring it to America/Europe and get even more sales, Sega!

    • Elvick

Nah, they’d rather have demos of the game at E3 with no plans for localization.

      That’s more Sega’s style.

Please sign this petition to bring this game over!

I’m proud to be one of those 230,000 sold in Japan, while living here in America!  And I’m going to buy the PS3 version too!

    • Yup =^_^=

    •  Same here, though I doubt I’ll double dip and get the PS3 version. For me, Project Diva will always be a portable thing. :D

    count me in :D

    ~already bought the game~

Bought a copy, insisted by my lil sis. She loves Miku to bits, i on the other hand do not….Despite that, the game is actually pretty fun and the soundtrack is ok i guess.

Hahaha Miku’s cool and all but her music aint my kind of thing.

I bought my copy one week after release and still play it almost every day. At the moment I’m playing the song-list on extreme difficulty and it’s still alot of fun.

It wouldn’t make any sense to localize it outside of japan, as the Vita has no localization restrictions and you can still enjoy the game without speaking japanese.

  • So what’s with that “f” anyway? I don’t think they ever officially said what it stands for.

    •  Wow. Complete silence huh? I guess nobody knows than…

  • Tianyu Wei

this is a game really that you should import instead of petition for a localization… there is BARELY ANYTHING to localize… there is no story… and with like 5-10 minute or just a screen shot translation of menu that’s all you need…
