What Have Eighting Been Up To Since Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

Even if you haven’t heard of them, you’ve probably played at least one of the several games that Japanese studio, Eighting, have worked on. In particular, they’ve collaborated with Capcom on several fighters such as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Fate/Unlimited Codes, and more recently the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 games.

So, what have Eighting been up to, aside from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s release in 2011? Most prominently, they’ve worked on Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Nintendo 3DS. Another 3DS title they were involved with is Pro Baseball Family Stadium 2011 for Namco Bandai.

Meanwhile, on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Eighting worked on Resident Evil: Revival Selection, which means they helped port Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code Veronica X to HD platforms.

Finally, on the Wii and PSP, Eighting worked on Kamen Rider: Super Climax Heroes for Namco Bandai. That game was released at the end of November.

Impressive listing for Eighting. Hopefully the future will have even more better work for them because. Well, their Naruto games….Yeaah….I think they are pretty much done with their Naruto games. Mmm…Or was that TOMY?

    • British_Otaku

TOMY seem to have been the license holder of Naruto on the Nintendo systems (GameCube, GBA, DS, Wii, 3DS) till recently. They contracted Eighting to develop a fighting series which are the Naruto games you know on the GameCube and Wii.

I would like to think Namco Bandai (who held rights on the Sony platforms, later Xbox and then Nintendo systems) could call back Eighting for the franchise even if TOMY don’t have a say.

They were also behind the Bleach Heat the Soul series and Bloody Roar 4 :U

That’s one mighty impressive list of games they have developed.

I’m a big fan of this series of articles focusing on the less publicized development studios in Japan, giving us a rundown of what they’ve done recently, and if possible what they’re working on in the future. With Circle you even got an exclusive interview :)

How are you choosing which studios you check in on? Because of course, the moment you do something cool for the site my immediate (shameful) reaction was “Oooh, maybe they take requests!”

Because it’s been quite a while since we saw anything out of Good Feel…

Good Feel = Nintendo partner = untouchable. We’d love to be able to talk to a lot of these Nintendo partner studios, but none of them would be able to say anything because they’re working with Nintendo, haha.

We just pick studios that have worked on cool stuff. It’s also a question of which ones we think will reply and be willing to work with us. We did one with Genius Sonority recently in case you missed that, and one with Indies Zero back in 2011:

Thanks for the links! I had indeed missed one of those.

Wow I been wondering for awhile what they were up to….was hoping they’d be working on a Fate Unlimited Codes 2…or Darkstalkers 4 since who can trust Capcom these days ha!

    • ronin4life

      Unlimited codes 2 YEEEEAAAAHHH!!!!

Can’t say anything about their Monster Hunter games, since I’ve never played one, but those two HD ports were pretty bad and I much prefer the SFIV style to the MVC3 style of fighting games.

  • Zal_Yagun

is it possible they are helping out on Monster Hunter 4? wouldn’t be much of a stretch depending on what they did on MH3U

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

It is certainly possible, but I think it depends on how many resources Capcom are spending on that game. The reason 8ing helped out with 3U is that 3U and 4 both began development simultaneously in 2010, and Capcom alone couldn’t do both games at once.

  • British_Otaku

Good to hear that Eighting are still working, I want to see them back on Gekitou Ninja Taisen/Clash of Ninja. There is a market for competitive Naruto fighters alongside the pretty fanservice titles like Storm.

  • Chris Cruz

I had no idea EIGHTING of all companies worked on a fighting game, let alone something like MvC 3.

    • Armane

Are you joking? All Eighting have been known for for the past 10 years has been their work on licensed fighting games.

      • Chris Cruz

I mainly remember Eighting for their shooters =P

  • zero254

I wish eighting would somehow aquire the bloody roar license so they can make the games again.

Would bring me back to their amazing Raizing day when they made amazing shootemups.

  • Tails the Foxhound

Man I just really want Eighting to make another Clash of Ninja. If I’m stuck with the, IMHO horrible, Ultimate Ninja series until Naruto is over it’s going to suck for me hard core. I wanna try that Kamen Rider game now that I know that’s by them too.

    I miss their shmups

    Raizing/eighting = ownage.
