The Witcher 3’s World Will Be 30 Times Larger Than The Witcher 2

CD Projekt Red  have announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for simultaneous release in 2014 on PC and “all high-end platforms”. Wild Hunt will be the studio’s final Witcher game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature an open-world that is 30 times larger than The Witcher 2 says CD Projekt Red studio head, Adam Badowski. Each region will consist of its own population with different customs, stories and problems.

"Imagine playing a dark fantasy game with the same great non-linear story as in the previous Witcher titles, but now told in a world you can explore freely with no artificial boundaries," Badowski says. "The war-ravaged world is so huge that to reach farther places you will need to ride a horse or sail a boat to get there."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being designed using CD Projekt Red’s new REDEngine 3 technology. The game will feature no quick-time events, an improved battle system, and a non-linear story with choice like the previous Witcher games. The game’s story will involve Geralt trying to save his loved ones.

30 times lol. They said 30% in the interview.

30 times would be inpossible xD.

    • Xmas Lopez

Now I feel disappointed after hearing that.

30x just sounds so impressive that 30% feels like a downgrade or something

    • Manny Being Manny

All the news articles are saying 30 times, and that its bigger than Skyrim. 30% wouldn’t be anywhere close to Skyrim size.

This is Forbes exact words from their article: “The game will be 30 times the size of The Witcher 2, with an open world larger than Skyrim.”

Also checking google, doing “Witcher 3 30% bigger” gives me no hits related to that, so I don’t really believe thats the case at all.

    • I never played witcher 2 but actually all news are saying 30x as unbelievable as it may seem o.O

    • Syn

Not for the next gen it isnt :D

    • Lars Anderson

No, 30% larger than Skyrim, and 30 times larger than TW2. Entirely possible.

  • Ladius

It seems like they could beat TW2 with Wild Hunt, I can’t wait to see a trailer.

I still need to try out the Witcher games at some point. In related news, apparently they’re both 50% off on GoG and Steam. The Witcher 1 is 5 bucks for the next 3 days, so I may pick it up.

i am ashamed to admit but is still haven’t played the second one the reason is that i am afraid my PC can’t handle it but every now and then i remember about it and cry… OK i don’t cry but i feel a bit sad

    • MooPoint

Same here. I afraid my GT555M laptop will be fried if it running The Witcher 2. Buying a PC is out of question, as I am a collage student in rented apartment and afraid some guy break in and stole the PC(if I get one) when I went back hometown. New gaming laptop is no as well, they are very expensive. So, no playing The Witcher 2 for me..

      • $39420547

i feel you i just wish there was a demo of the game to check out if i can run it

  • SirRichard

Well, good thing I got the first two in a Steam sale a while back, now if I could find the time for them.

  • Interface23

    30% not 30 times

  • Kevin Lor

Do I have to play the first two to enjoy the story for part 3? For the main story atleast.

  • Locklear93

Hopefully “saving his loved ones” doesn’t mean Triss again–because I totally blew her off when she needed help in TW2. <_<

  • Göran Isacson

A world 30 times bigger than the old one, while they at the same time develop a Cyberpunk game. Oh man alive, I do hope they haven’t bitten off more than they can chew here and we’ll end up seeing them out of cash :(

  • Valtiel Ikari

is it me or the simbol looks like the berserk armor helmet from Berserk manga!!!?

  • Setsu Oh

30times? well tw2 should have been very small then….
