By Ishaan . August 22, 2013 . 9:50am

Sega have launched an official website with screenshots in Japan for Yakuza Revolution, the next game in the series to take place in a medieval setting. In Yakuza Revolution, protagonist Kazuma Kiryu becomes a swordsman named Ryoma Sakamoto.

Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama teases that more information on the game will be revealed in next week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine. Until then, check the new screenshots out below, including Kiryu as the Shinsengumi’s Saito Hajime.

This seems pretty cool. Love the images and Kazuma. But before I get hype for this I should finish Yakuza 4 -_-

Games backlog is about to get painful with new consoles around the corner.

    • ddh819

you know its bad when your backlog spans generations

      • Zero_Destiny

I’m doomed then, my backlog goes back to NES. D:

        • malek86

          I still gotta finish Zork.

          • idrawrobots

I have a game of Backgammon that I need to finish.

  • James Enk

wow i love the look of medieval japan

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I’m assuming those are in-game shots, no? If that’s the case, then this is gonna be one damn good looking game (I’m also gonna assume this will be on next-gen platforms, more than likely PS4).

    • malek86

Judging from the 2D trees and absolute lack of anisotropic filtering on the ground (something that shouldn’t happen with the massive amount of memory and bandwidth of the PS4), I think it’s more likely to be either PS3, or a PS4 game that doesn’t push the console’s features at all.

        Could be Wii U?

        • malek86

That’s possible, but I don’t think Sega will make a new Yakuza game for the Wii U. Unless it’s PS3/WiiU.

Of course, could also be that it’s a PS4 game and these low-res screenshots don’t show the game properly. We should wait for full-size images.

Yes, PS3/WiiU, maybe that was the purpose of Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Wii U port?

            Only time will tell…

        • noctis_nox

Why would dengeki playstation feature a WiiU game lol! you are a funny guy

      • Wolfs_Rain

Yakuza 3 and 4 didn’t exactly push the PS3′s hardware either, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s for PS4.

  • https://twitter.com/Panda_castro Panda

    I’m guessing PS4.

    “Shinsengumi”
    “medieval Setting”

    Wot.

  • Ivan Junior

This is for PS4, look at those gorgeus graphics. I bet Yakuza 5 was the last one for PS3.

  • Wolf-Totem

Nah it will be on vita.

    • TheExile285

graphics are too good unless all of that is pre-rendered which i doubt.

would be nice though (assuming Sega localized it….)

  • Tristan Diaz

I want to say PS4, but it’s screaming PS3 at my face. Doesn’t matter because this will be awesome regardless of the system.

  • Keiji Johnson

I’m confused. Is the title of the game Yakuza Restoration or Yakuza Revolution?

  • brian

I recently saw the Wolverine, and thought it’d be really cool if Wolverine got kidnapped by Yakuza and had to fight Kazuma in one of those underground fights.
Just thought of it because of a Sega logo in the background.
But on topic, I saw a poster for Yakuza 5 with a localized logo on a window of a local game place, asked the manager guy about it and he found a trailer for it on IGN but I think it was just a TGS trailer.
I could take a picture of it if you want me to?

    • noctis_nox

Maybe it’s really coming. People just worry too much.XD

  • leingod

Those environments look beautiful… hope to see the game in the west.

On a side note, I always dreamt of an Assassin’s Creed game in feudal Japan. Ninjas being assassins and all.

    • TheExile285

      do want

      • Ric Vazquez

        Me too!

    • Ric Vazquez

Damn, I want the game from your dreams!

    • idrawrobots

It has to happen at some point, right? Right?

      • leingod

        Well… that’s what I hope, at least.

    • SuBw00FeR

      Assassin’s Creed VI: Feudal Japan.

You heard it here first folks!

  • Ric Vazquez

Yakuza in medieval Japan, only one two words to describe this, BADASS and EPIC!

  • Virevolte

Even as Saito he fights half-naked. Is it an endearing trait of character ? ^^
