Taiko Drum Master 3DS Sales Consistent, Rune Factory Doing Well

Recommended Videos

Since Pokémon Black/White 2 refused to give up the #1 spot for yet another week in a row, Taiko Drum Master: The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb had to settle for the #2 spot when it was released last week.

The game sold 65,462 copies in its first week. Sales tracker, Media Create, report that this was 45.26% of its first shipment. While that may seem like a low number, it’s actually fairly consistent with the rest of the series.

For instance, 2010’s Taiko no Tatsujin Dororon! The Great Yokai Battle sold 69,767 copies in its first week, which represented a 46.03% sell-through. By the end of 2010, that game went on to sell a whopping 324,122 copies.

Another example is 2008’s Meccha! Taiko no Tatsujin DS. This one sold 55,950 copies in its first week (42.31% sell-through) and went on to sell 453,913 copies by the end of the year. These games sell gradually over the course of several months, and the same trend should hold true for the new Nintendo 3DS version.

Unfortunately, Media Create don’t provide any data for Time Travelers on either Nintendo 3DS or Vita, but perhaps we’ll see an update on them this coming week, alongside data on the PSP version.

Finally, here’s something else to look forward this coming week—retailers indicate that both Digimon World Re:Digitize and Rune Factory 4, released this past week, have been selling well. Multiple retailers pointed out that Rune Factory 4 appears to be very popular with women, so that’s mission accomplished for Marvelous AQL.
