Club Nintendo Members Vote On Their Favourite 3DS And Wii U Games

By Ishaan . January 4, 2014 . 3:29pm

Recently, Nintendo of America asked Club Nintendo members to vote on their ten favourite Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games in 2013. While the Wii U’s selection is obviously rather limited, the 3DS saw an incredible amount of support this year, and you can see which games made the cut below.

Comments from Club Nintendo users on the games above can be viewed here. Personally, I’m disappointed to see Shin Megami Tensei IV missing from the list, although Xseed are and Capcom are both probably happy to see their games make the cut. (Note, however, that this list is not indicative of sales in any way.)

  • Mostly good selections for the 3DS voting.

  • Ace Attorney, Fire Emblem, and Rune Factory are there so I’m happy

  • TheExile285

Damn, I wish I had known about this during the voting faze. Ah well, I would have voted Rune Factory 4 which got a spot so it’s all good. ^_^

    • Masa

Still waiting for that game to be released in Europe. :(
Hope this wait is worth it, xD.

  • Lord Búho

Glad to see M&L and AA up there, but my favorite this year (SMT IV) didn’t make the cut D:

  • Muffum

I’m just very pleasantly surprised Rune Factory 4 got on there; even if this isn’t indicative of sales, I would’ve thought the game too niche to get on a list like this.

  • Grape Monet

Yay Wonderful 101, MH3 and Dual Destinies! Shame that SMT IV is missing, but Rune Factory 4 is a pleasant surprise.

  • NeoPancho

The Wonderful101? Yep; Fire Emblem Awakening? You bet; Ace Attorney Dual Destinies? Uhum; Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? Check; Mario 3D World? But of course.

All is right with the world!

    • AuraGuyChris

Except for the double Pokemon dose.

      • NeoPancho

I think they should have combined both Pokemon games, so another game could have make the cut (maybe SMTIV?), but, it’s a quite good list anyway you look at it… in my opinion.

  • Rafael Budzinski

…mostly good games for the 3DS, but I’m too disapointed that SMTIV isn’t on the list…

  • SetzerGabbiani

The fact that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is on both lists gives me hope for a future 4 or 4G localization. It has to be encouraging for Capcom even if this isn’t indicative of sales numbers.

The lack of SMT IV is a bit upsetting, but we know it sold relatively well especially with the Fire Emblem deal.

I’m really impressed that The Wonderful 101 made it.

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

Didn’t think Rayman Legends would be up there. That’s surprising.

  • British_Otaku

Pleased to see The Wonderful 101 up here as well as Ace Attorney 5, so I can’t complain at all. Rayman Legends was pretty awesome too.

  • Taedirk

Pokemon double dipping in the 3DS category is bogus.

    • Greg

Even as a huge pokemon fan I agree with this. The two games should really be treated as a whole instead of being treated as two completely different games. I’m sure another great game could have filled the spot.

    • gnarly!

  • PreyMantis

Good to see great games on the list. It’s a fresher with those other lists that mostly have over-hyped shooters and sports games.

  • AlteisenX

SMT4 and Etrian Odyssey 4 or Untold missing is quite the shame, and Pokemon having two spots is really disappointing. Most surprising on the list is easily Rune Factory 4, and that’s not a bad thing. My personal picks would be combining Pokemon, removing Animal Crossing and adding SMT4 and EO to that list, but hey, 3DS had an amazing year anyways. Really happy Phoenix Wright is on the list, I hope Capcom takes huge notice in this. Soul Hackers came out this year too! [Edited in]

    • Herok♞

I wouldn’t remove Animal Crossing, gave the series a try this year with this game and it was pretty fun, but I won’t argue with your personal picks because they are still respectable choices

    • hng qtr

A shame EO IV didn’t appear in the list, easily the best RPG on the system. I’d even say it is the best Atlus series.

  • Learii

does that mean no more Atlus games for Nintendo?

    • Like I said, these picks have nothing to do with actual sales. Plus, I don’t even know how or when these people voted on their favourite games. I didn’t know about the survey until yesterday, and we keep up with what publishers are up to for our daily news.

      • lunier

I think this might be the Twitter “survey”, they asked what everyone’s favourite 3ds and wiiu games were for 2013

        • Oh wow. You’re probably right, hahaha. I never even thought of that.

      • Learii

thx for keep up the news

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

No Atlus games makes me sad here.T_T But at least seeing there are some loves for Ubisoft Rayman, WONDERFUL 101. Monster Hunter, Rune Factory and Ace Attorney is always nice.

Pokemon taking two spot is cheating u know Nintendo.T_T

  • Man, I own nine of those 3DS games…maybe I have a problem…

  • Lakitu13

I like how they try to balance the quotes but for RF4 they only managed to find guys on their 30s.

    • Haha! I thought the exact same thing. That it was odd that RF4 had all guy quotes. Maybe it’s because they feel this particular RF already does a good enough job at appealing to women, so guys are the ones that need convincing.

  • Shane Guidaboni

No SMT IV makes me sad.

    • Man that game seems pretty cool but I got all my pokemon and went to Tokyo and now I have no idea what to do. There’s no like ‘start family’ or ‘begin indentured servitude to a megacorporation’ so I just gave up. Also I turned into a big round dot which is pretty apt

    • Kaetsu

It was far better than Dream Team…

  • MrRobbyM

I’m sure SMT would be up there if it wasn’t so expensive.

  • AuraGuyChris

Maybe SMTIV is missing there because they’re probably running the same poll over there at Europe, and Europe doesn’t have it but does have Bravely Default?

  • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

    My 3DS top 5 of 2013
    Fire Emblem Awakening
    Pokemon Y
    Senran Kagura Burst
    Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon
    Shin Megami Tensei IV

  • Raltrios

How did Kid Icarus: Uprising not make it on here? I still consider it the best game on the 3DS.

    • s07195

      Was it a 2013 game?

      • Kaetsu

        I think it was 2012

  • Ben Sylvia

    Yeah Awakening!

  • Adam Zaorski

The fact that there is no Shin Megami Tensei IV and Etrian Odyssey IV on the list hurts my eyes and makes me sad. Altough the competition was crazy last year so to be honest I would exchange M&L: Dream Team and one of the Pokemon(should count as 1 game) for one of the aforementioned games and it would be all fine.

  • FlameEmperor

They should release a poll about what games we would like to see localize over in the US e.e if it gets enough support…….. Maybe localize that game…… -coughMH4cough- >.>

    • I’m fairly certain they know exactly what games people want to see and I’m just as certain that most of those games are all coming. They’re just spreading them out.

      • FlameEmperor

I really hope so ;-; been watching some videos on MH4 and I must say…… It looks amazing x.x I went back to MHFU to fight the fatalis because of that.

      • almostautumn

Feel free to point me towards the secret cave where L5NA is preparing Yokai Watch and Fantasy Life for NA release.

  • MrTyrant

    -Fire Emblem Awakening
    -Rune Factory 4
    -Pheonix Wright DD

I’m really happy with the list even if at the same time I feel bad for the lack of SMT IV.

  • Seta Soujiro

maybe atlus made auto-kill by selling it for $50. don’t get me wrong, i bought the game (preordered it) but the soundtrack cd was meh and the guide/artbook was alright i guess.

i can see some potential buyers saying “$50 bucks? no thanks” and that’s a shame as it is a veeery good game that i thoroughly enjoyed.

    • Actually, SMTIV appears to have done pretty well for itself. Like I said in the post, these selections aren’t indicative of sales and shouldn’t be taken as such. For example, I highly doubt RF4 has sold nearly as much as SMTIV.

      • Seta Soujiro

still, it should have been $40 since release…at least the digital version.

        • Hmmm. I guess I can’t make an unbiased judgment on that front. I mean, I love SMTIV. It’s up there with Persona 3 and Radiant Historia as one of my favourite Atlus games of all time, and it was easily one of my favourite games this past year as well. Plus… for the amount of content it has, I was more than happy to pay $50 for it, but that’s just me. I felt like I got my money’s worth out of it, with how much time I spent with the game.

          • Seta Soujiro

well, i too love megaten and atlus in general but you can’t expect regular buyers to shell out $50 for a portable game when all the others sell for $30-40 new in either vita or 3ds..specially a niche title such as this. yes, megaten is niche in america unless it has the word “persona” when it gets a little more mainstream.

  • Anthony Hayball

I would have liked to have seen Tales of the Abyss on the list.

    • Rintarou

This is just for 2013 games.

  • nonscpo

My top 3 3DS games this year were:
#1) MH3U (best game this year)
#2)Senran Kagura Burst (did someone say fan service?)
#3) Pokemon X Y (worst pokemon generation but its pokemon so it still makes the top ten)

  • Spider-Man

Monster Hunter needs all the exposure it can get for the West. Excellent.

  • Kango234

When was this I don’t remeber being asked.

  • nonscpo

MY top 3 nintendo 3ds games this year were:
    #1 Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
    #2 Senran Kagura Burst
    #3 Pokemon X Y
    How about everyone else?
