Well look at that. The PS4 and Wii U are basement buddies.

And Yo-kai Watch is about to join the 3DS’ exclusive million selling club.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

Mario Kart 8 next week in Japan. After the next chart. They are waiting for that bundle and Free games deal.

      • Guest

I concur, next week will be interesting at least.

But just to add something, that Mario Kart promo is different in Japan, they get two titles to try free for a month then they can choose to buy one with a 40% discount, so in about a month on the charts we’ll see how effective this was.

      • Alter

don’t forget Infamous SS also releasing this week. let’s see what happens with next week chart.

        • otakumike

not enough blue shells in infamous unfortunately. :(

  • Smooosh

Youkai watch is also available on the eShop, right? Pretty insane how popular it got. Also, obligatory it could be even more popular if you release it overseas *wink wink*.

Looks like PS4 sold on hype alone, I honestly don’t get how it sold 600k in the first place with its current line-up, but to each their own I guess. Might be just me.

WiiU still looking pretty bad, I hope MK and especially SSB will be able to raise those numbers for a longer period of time. I’d get one myself if I didn’t have so many games to buy in the coming months, there are actually a lot of titles I’d love to play. There’s no doubt that I’ll have to get one for Bayonetta 2 some time anyway.

    • darke

Wouldn’t surprise me if most of those were console FFXIV fans really…

But yeah, it doesn’t make any sense.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Hopefully Berserk has not been delayed D:

    • TheRealMalek

Wait what ? a new berserk game ?

Oh wait no you just talk about the “pause” that was done when the previous idolmaster was out.

Seing how he has sloaed down his release since it would not suprise me that much (we are at 1 volume a year now ?)

  • Shippoyasha

So nice to see Idolmaster has still got it.

Still wishing for a Love Live vs Idolmaster.

    • Cazar

      This happened.

      • MrTyrant

        Fighting game? lol

        • Cazar

Lol no, it was a live event. That could be amusing though. I’d probably get a twisted sense of enjoyment out of beating up the LL characters with the [email protected] characters.

      • Daniel Gulyas

        That’s incredible.

    • SupaPhly

is love live any good? never watched it

      • John Hayabusa

You are missing out all the Nico Nico Smile. Love Live is good. Give it a try.

(Apologies for the guest post. Something went bad.)

      • Shippoyasha

I would say so. It can be saccharine sweet at times, but it has very high production values, pretty nice animation, a lot of cute moments each episode and many episodes ends in a unique music video ender. Some episodes are pretty much like concerts. I was skeptical but quickly warmed to it.

  • Ethan_Twain

These are the weeks that make one despair for the Japanese video game industry. Not much releasing, not much broad appeal for what IS releasing, not many consoles of any sort being sold… I mean, 40% of the list is just old Nintendo games. Not games that have any particular momentum, just Nintendo games that are keeping up their slow steady sales.

And there’s nothing wrong with Nintendo games selling for a long time, but there IS something wrong with those games ranking so highly on the charts.

  • Anesia Hunter

i already liked moero chronicle and wanted, but after seeing a bit of gameplay of it i want it even more.

  • Audie Bakerson

Oh come on, didn’t Berserk just get off a hiatus?

  • hng qtr

    Grand Theft Auto V – 2,968 – 775,741 – 3DS – Take 2
Japan really gets a lot of games we never heard about, huh?

  • wererat42

Isn’t it about time we got an [email protected] game? I mean, we’ve got Project Diva and we’re getting Neptunia PP. It’s not like they’d have to re-record the music in English or anything.

    • Keko

Sadly, we did get an [email protected] game already…on iOS devices.

      • Renaldi Saputra

with high prices bcos licensing the songs

    • MrTyrant

I agree with you I really would like to see this in english. Been hoping for that when all the Namco localization storm happened D:

    • SupaPhly

or if they made a whole new game for the purpose of a worldwide release called World [email protected], features different characters that represent different countries and they all form up the 765 world branch :P

      • Renaldi Saputra

[email protected] is only popular in asia region especially Japan Taiwan China Hongkong, so I doubt much

    • Renaldi Saputra

it’s different comparing to project diva, many ppl are still taboo with this kind of game, licensing the songs aren’t easy things, requests are very rare. Many ppl rather imported it (for the previous games)

NISA just did that for neptune fans

  • Eder García

as expected, [email protected] still strong. Mario Golf with those slow sales… bad news. those GTA5 sales must have made Sony to think is OK with release the PS4 now in japan with western focused only games…
also MK8 is coming next week so… it will be interesting to see how it does in Japan.

  • Solomon_Kano

I just see Yokai Watch and laugh every week. I mean, hell, there were more copies of the game sold than there were 3DSs sold this week. Two more weeks and that mil shipment will be done.

  • Samuel

Japanese sales are just getting worse every week.

  • Roberto

i still find funny that gta5 is still there

  • Göran Isacson

Ha ha, welp- this wasn’t a very interesting week sales-wise. Mostly old faithfuls and little new and/or exciting, but I admit that I’m curious how well the new Idolmaster game is selling compared to how previous versions sold- is 80K+ copies a good thing, a bad thing, or a “business as usual” thing?

Also, Mario Kart 8 next week. That’ll be interesting…

    • Renaldi Saputra

for them, it was kinda worse than previous series…
[email protected] usually sold 100k++ first week IIRC

      • darke

Yeah, I had to double check the sales for Idolmaster were actually on the PS3. SAO on the Vita had better 1st week sales then that from memory. :(

      • Not really, Imas 2 sold about 65k+ in its first week(PS3).

        • Renaldi Saputra

oh maybe I mentioned the wrong one

        • Keksus

Imas 2 also had all the fun drama with Jupiter and the removal of 3 of the idols.

This time they have Leon and I think all Idols are produceable again.

  • Namuro

Well, well. Good to see Monster Hunter 4 in the top 10 again.

  • awang0718

Yokai Watch will hit a million in maybe 2 weeks. I imagine Yokai Watch 2 hitting 1 million copies sold much faster than the first game.
