Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are remakes of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, which were originally released for the Game Boy Advance. While their sales weren’t as high as those of last year’s Pokémon X and Y, they were similar to the sales of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Released in 2009, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver were remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver. In their first week on Japanese store shelves, HeartGold sold 720,086 copies, while SoulSilver sold 722,904 copies. In total, that amounts to 1,442,990 sold in their first week.

In comparison, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire sold 1,418,168 copies in their first week—a little lower than Hg/Ss, and the newer games also enjoyed a first week that was one day longer.
