Mission Accomplished – The Legend of Legacy Sold To SaGa Fans

Recommended Videos

FuRyu’s Nintendo 3DS RPG, The Legend of Legacy, was released in Japan last week, and as we reported this past Wednesday, it sold 53,974 copies in its first week.

That’s the highest opening for any FuRyu game in recent years, and Japanese sales tracker Media Create reports that it also saw a high sell-through. The Legend of Legacy sold through 83% of its shipment, so reports of the game being tough to find at some stores weren’t exaggerating.

FuRyu heavily promoted the fact that The Legend of Legacy is developed by former Square Enix staff, including those that worked on the SaGa franchise. In fact, the influences of the SaGa series can be felt in several aspects of the game, and the plan appears to have worked, as retailers reported to Media Create that the game sold primarily to SaGa fans.

It should be interesting to see how The Legend of Legacy does in the weeks to come, and what numbers it ends up at a year from now. There’s also the question of what FuRyu will do next, and if they have plans to turn the game into its own franchise.
