Publishing arrangements for Marvelous AQL games to remain flexible, says Director of Publishing Ken Berry.

Xseed grew today starting with the acquisition of Atlus Online from Index Digital Media. Atlus Online handles MMORPGs like BattleSpace, Knights of the Sky, Pandora Saga, and Shin Megami Tensei Imagine.

Marvelous AQL, the company behind Muramasa Rebirth and eventually Kaio: King of Pirates, have released an Android RPG titled Cross Horizon.

We were wondering what happened to Entersphere, the video game studio founded by Pikmin writer Motoi Okamoto. Earlier this year, Marvelous AQL acquired Entersphere. Marvelous AQL is known for games like Muramasa Rebirth, Rune Factory, and Harvest Moon.

Marvelous AQL and localization subsidiary, Xseed, are being sued by an independent developer.

Together, they seem to be doing OK since Marvelous AQL reported 10.4 billion yen in sales ($130 million) and a net profit of 3.5 billion yen ($44 million).

Marvelous AQL have opened a new U.K. office that will specialize in social and mobile games.

“Rising Star’s expansion into the North American market does not affect us in any way,” Xseed’s Director of Publishing, Ken Berry, shared with us in an e-mail.

Rising Star managing director, Martin Defries, says that Rising Star USA will be a rebranding of Marvelous USA.

A digital artist’s CV also mentions Marvelous AQL is working on an unannounced adventure game.

Famitsu’s list of New Year’s messages from publishers includes a note from King of Fighters developer SNK Playmore. The publisher says they plan to begin creating social games of various genres.
