While New Super Mario Bros. Wii is out in North America, Japan has to wait a few more weeks to play as Penguin Mario. Nintendo is hyping it overseas with a set of commercials focusing on different features.

We already know that New Super Mario Bros. on Wii is going to include a demo play feature. Nikkei is now reporting that the feature will also be present in DS games.

Remember that patent by Nintendo that detailed how it would be possible for a game to play itself to help you out of a tight spot or show you the ropes?

New Super Mario Brothers Wii is just like classic Super Mario Brothers. At E3 I joined a game with three other people, playing as one of the two Toads. The first level had what you would expect in a Mario game, super mushrooms and pits to jump over.

New Super Mario Brothers Wii has at least two new power ups: the propeller suit, which replaces other flying power ups like the leaf, and Penguin Mario. Other screenshots show Yoshi riding and Fire Toad.
