Konami is bringing Silent Hill: Downpour to Japan and they’re promoting it by bringing people like idol Chiaki Kyan to haunted places to play the game… in the dark.

Silent Hill: Downpour received a patch this week that fixes bugs and makes performance tweaks to the Xbox 360 version of the game.

Konami announced they will bring Silent Hill: Downpour in Japan on November 8. While the game was a multiplatform title in the West, Konami will only release Silent Hill: Downpour for PlayStation 3 in Japan.

Konami say patches for both games will be released in the coming weeks.

Along with Silent Hill: Downpour’s release date (March 13), Konami sent a few screenshots of the horror game. Downpour takes place in the southeastern section of Silent Hill, a location not seen in previous games.

Silent Hill: Downpour follows with a March 13 release date and the multiplayer game Silent Hill: Book of Memories comes out for Vita on March 27.

Enemies in Downpour won’t be recycled from previous games, says producer, Devin Shatsky, who feels that including classic enemies in Silent Hill: Homecoming was a mistake.

Konami has two more Silent Hill games coming early next year. Visit the Otherworld you remember on January 24 when Silent Hill HD Collection comes out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The next installment of Silent Hill was supposed to come out this month just in time for Halloween. Konami pushed Downpour’s release back a few months and have the game slated for release early next year.

Konami released a new trailer for Silent Hill: Downpour at Tokyo Game Show.

“By having it here in the West, plus using different developers we’re able to get a lot more ideas out in the open. It’s important to note, that Konami and myself on that end, we’re driving those games,” said Tomm Hulett.

“In order to do that without hampering the controls like the old survival horror games did, we had to make the monsters pretty tough. They have abilities beyond what old Silent Hill games had,” Tomm Hulett said.

After a prison transport barrels off a road, Murphy Pendleton finds himself in the twisted world of Silent Hill. Silent Hill: Downpour takes place in the southeastern region, which hasn’t been featured in a Silent Hill game before.
