Now that Phantasy Star Online 2’s closed beta test is done, Sega are preparing to move onto open beta, registrations for which will begin on May 23rd. Prior to that, however, they’ll run a Pre-Open Beta Test, in order to ensure that no network problems occur during the open beta. This is scheduled to kick off sometime in late June.
Additionally, producer, Satoshi Sakai, also posted a list of data and feedback that the development team acquired through the closed beta to the game’s official site. The closed beta saw 131,000 users logging in, with an average of 21,000 simultaneous connections a day.
When asked what aspect of the game they would like to see strengthened most, 20.3% of players said they wanted more Weapon Categories. 11.1% wanted an increase in the variety of skills, while 8.8% wanted to see improved character creation options. Responding to these requests, the team plans to add additional weapon categories in future updates. You can find more data related to feedback at the link above.
Additionally, 61.9% of people indicated that they would only be interesting in playing Phantasy Star Online 2 on PC, while 14.6% said they would play on the PC and PlayStation Vita as well. 44.1% of players played the game using a controller—using the keyboard only for chatting—while 38.9% played with a keyboard and mouse.
