Rock out with Detroit Metal City and D3 Publisher

In another unusual license D3 Publisher picked up the rights to Detroit Metal City, a Japanese manga about Negishi Souichi who becomes a death metal singer. The game is coming out sometime in August and the first screenshots make it look something like an Ouendan clone. One of the mini-game screenshots shows a moving ball on the touch screen, which looks incredibly similar to what Inis made.

However, Detroit Metal City has an RPG-like quest mode where players take on rival bands. This might make Detroit Metal City DS Death Shout less import friendly than Ouendan, but DS owners looking for a niche beat tapping game might want to keep an eye on this when D3 Publisher reveals more information about the gameplay.
