Recommended Videos

Nintendo released their annual report today, and included in it were sales numbers for the mainline Pokémon RPGs on Nintendo DS, as of March 2011. We thought our readers might be interested to see these.

The “year” column refers to each game’s American release date. Sales, however, are worldwide:

Title Year (U.S.) Sales to date (global)
Pokémon Diamond/Pearl 2007 17.57 million
Pokémon Platinum 2009 7.43 million
Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver 2010 11.90 million
Pokémon Black/White 2011 11.51 million

In a recent issue of Famitsu magazine, The Pokémon Company president, Tsunekazu Ishihara, stated that there are more Pokémon “surprises” planned for the second half of this year, for both Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. He also talked about his outlook on how to develop 3DS games, emphasizing the importance of online functions.
