BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Introduces The Overdrive System, Other Changes

Recommended Videos

Arc System Works have begun releasing more information on BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, which they announced this past weekend at their BlueFes 2012 event. As previously reported, Chrono Phantasma will have three new characters, new moves for the game’s returning characters, and new costumes as well. You can watch a trailer for it here.

Among the changes to this new revision is something called the Overdrive system. The Overdrive system replaces Gold Bursts, and grants character-specific benefits. Overdrives are activated by pressing all four attack buttons at once. A list of Overdrive effects for the various characters can be found on Shoryuken.com.

Additionally, Arc System Works have also released a PDF file with an extensive list of move and system changes that have been implemented in BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma. You can download this here (in Japanese) and find details translated by fans—take with a grain of salt—in Shoryuken’s report. New moves in the PDF are marked in pink, while changed moves are in blue.

Keep in mind that the build of Chrono Phantasma these are from isn’t final. Location testing for the game began in Japan today, and BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is planned for an arcade release in Japan this winter.
