A new Assassin’s Creed game is in development, and will take place in a new time period with a new lead character, Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, shared during an earnings call this morning.

Details are scarce, but Ubisoft also indicated that the new Assassin’s Creed will be developed by a different development team. No release date has been provided for the game yet, but Ubisoft plan to release the game between April 2013 and the end of March 2014.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft announced in their third-quarter earnings report that Assassin’s Creed 3 was “a record-breaking success with more than 12 million sell-in and digitally distributed units”. That’s close to a 70% increase over Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
