A new Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer was released this morning, going over two of the game’s newest features. In this installment, there will be Alola forms for some returning characters and new Z-Moves for characters to use.
Alola forms give familiar characters some new faces. In the newest Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer, Exeggutor becomes a Fire/Dragon Type with the Frisk ability. Vulpix becomes an Ice type and Ninetales is Ice/Fairy, with both taking the Snow Cloak ability. Finally, Sandshrew and Sandslash are both Ice/Steel types and also have the Snow Cloak ability.
Some more new Pokémon were also introduced. There is a new bird Pokémon called Oricorio, which comes in four different styles. There’s the Fire/Flying Baile Style, Electric/Flying Pom-Pom Style, Psychic/Flying Pa’u Style, and Ghost/Flying Sensu Style. Each one is found on a different Alola island and has a Revelation Dance that matches its type. Its Dancer ability lets it copy any Dance moves used by other Pokémon. Minior, a Rock/Flying type with the Shields Down ability, which lets it reveal one of four different cores, is available. Yungoos can evolve into Gumshoos, a Normal type with either the Stakeout or Strong Jaw abilities. Fomantis, a Grass type, evolves into Lurantis. Both have the Leaf Guard ability. Lurantis knows Solar Blade, a new attack. Also, it turns out Mudsdale evolves from Mudbray, a Ground type with the Own Tempo or Stamina abilities.
Other new game elements are highlighted in the trailer. Certain Pokémon will be Ride Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Moon. The trailer shows people hopping on Charizards and Mudsdales. You’ll also be going through the island challenge as a rite of passage to become a champion, fighting Trial Champions Mallow (Grass), Lana (Water), Sophocles (Electric), and Kiawe (Fire) along the way. Totem Pokémon, with special properties and allies, may also appear. Beating the trials lets you face Kahunas, like Melemele’s Hala.
Finally, there are Z-moves in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Every Pokémon has Z-power that can be used for a special move. You can use one Z-Move per each fight and there is a Z-Move for every type of Pokémon. For example, the video shows Pikachu knows Gigavolt Havoc. Rowlet knows Bloom Doom. Litten has Inferno Overdrive. Popplio has Hydro Vortex.
Pokémon Sun and Moon will come to the Nintendo 3DS on November 18, 2016.
