Shenmue III Development Report Vol. 1 Shows QTE Event Scene Creation

From time to time, Ys Net has been releasing backer updates to keep people apprised of what’s happening with Shenmue III’s development. Today, it has released the first video in a series called the Development Report. Each entry will show a part of the Shenmue III development progress, with Development Report Vol. 1 going over event scene creation for quick time events (QTEs).

Two specific parts in the QTE event scene development process are shown. In the first part of the video, we watch what seems to be a recreation of the river jump QTE event from Shenmue II. In the second half, we’re able to see a developer testing a Shenmue III QTE scene where Ryo is climbing a cliff.

Shenmue III currently has a tentative December 2017 PlayStation 4 and PC launch window.
