A group of Romhacking.net fans has accomplished an incredible task. Far East of Eden Zero, a massive SNES RPG, is receiving an English fan translation patch. It will be released to the public on October 22, 2017. Tom, one of the members involved with the project, revealed the distribution date on Twitter.
Far East of Eden Zero is a spin-off of the Far East of Eden series. You may recognize the name from Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash, which appeared on the Neo Geo CD in the US as Kabuki Klash and was the only installment in the line to be released outside of Japan. Far East of Eden Zero is a traditional, turn-based RPG with a huge world and real-time clock that allows you to experience certain events by playing on different days at different times. The game follows a young man, Higan the Fire Hero, who heads out to find friends and defeat a demon lord after his village is attacked. Other notable features include incredible graphics and soundtrack, though it has no cutscenes. This is all due to the game using the SPC7110 chip, something few SNES games did.
Footage has been released showing the Far East of Eden Zero translation running on a real SNES.
Far East of Eden Zero originally appeared on the SNES (Super Famicom) in Japan on December 22, 1995.
