Last week, Japan geared up for Golden Week with the release of several titles including a big-hitter in Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2018, the Utawarerumono remake, SD Gundam on Switch, and more. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of April 23 through April 29, 2018.

 

The top-20 titles of the week consists of nine new releases from last week, starting at the top of the first with Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2018 at #1 with 124,831 units sold on PS4 and at #2 with 58,435 units sold on PS Vita for a combined total of 183,266 units to show that it can still hit those dingers.

 

At #3 we have God of War with 29,517 units for its second week. Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit followed with a solid 25,914 units sold in its week two. Splatoon 2 and Kirby: Star Allies continues to sell well with 18,664 units and 17,950 units sold in the week respectively.

 

The next new title is Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta, the remake of the very first Utawarerumono game, and it sold 14,426 units on PS4 to chart at #7 and 8,591 units on PS Vita for #12. Next up we have SD Gundam: G Generation Genesis on Nintendo Switch at #9 with 11,975 units sold, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II Kai –The Erebonian Civil War at #10 with 11,345 units sold on PS4.

 

We have another Switch port at #15 with Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy  which sold 6,682 units in the week. Doukoku Soshite… on PS4 charted at #16 with 6,357 units sold. Lastly, Bravo Team charted at #18 with 4,980 units sold on PSt.

 

In hardware sales, we saw the biggest increase coming from the PlayStation 4 family, which appeared to be in shortage last week. The standard PS4 sold 25,005 units and the PS4 Pro sold 10,004 units for a total of 35,009 units between the two. However, the Nintendo Switch was once again the top-selling hardware with 38,752 units sold during the week to take up about 44.9% of all hardware sales of the week. Going by Media Create’s numbers, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 4,110,580 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
