You may recall that, last month, Microsoft announced a brand new $99 Xbox 360 + Kinect bundle with a mandatory premium-priced 2-year subscription to Xbox Live. In case you’ve forgotten what this entailed, here’s a quick refresher:
4GB Xbox 360 + Kinect ($99) – Paid upfront
$14.99 per-month Xbox Live Gold subscription ($360) – Paid over two years.
And you can find details on cancellation fees for the mandatory subscription here.
So far, this bundle has only been available at Microsoft’s own retail stores. This morning, however, Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced that the bundle will be made available at all U.S. Best Buy stores and select GameStop locations later this month, adding that the bundles would be limited in number.
“This next phase of the pilot program will be limited in terms of both timing and the number of units available,” Hryb writes on his blog. “We’re excited to forge new ground and explore a new retail model for Xbox 360, but also want to emphasize that this is a pilot period for the program.”
