Ubisoft’s short-term Nintendo 3DS line-up consists of Combat of Giants: Dinosaur 3D, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory 3D, Driver Renegade, and Ghost Recon Tactics, a turn-based strategy game.
All of those games are due out in Spring 2011, which means around the launch of the 3DS itself. But Ubisoft seem to have a fifth game that’s closer to release than they might be letting on: Rayman 3D. While not officially announced, Rayman 3D was recently rated by the Australian Classification Board.
Our guess is that this is a port of Rayman: Origins, announced at this past year’s E3 for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade for Q4, 2010. Soon after, Ubisoft’s Rayman: Origins blog mentioned that 3DS, Wii, PC and iPad versions of the game were being considered for later release.
Rayman: Origins is an episodic game being worked on by a team of five, led by Beyond Good & Evil creator, Michel Ancel, and is a prequel to the original Rayman. It uses something called the UBIart Framework, designed to let users create content for the game.
