Puella Magi Madoka Magica Walpurgisnacht: Rising will no longer appear in theaters in February 2026, as the air date has been delayed again. Aniplex will announce its new air date in mid-February 2026.
According to the announcement on the official Madoka Magica website, production reasons forced the studio to delay the movie. It apologizes to the fans who were excitedly waiting for the film’s release, as well as to the companies that are sponsoring and supporting it. At the end, it promises to keep working on the film to deliver an even better product than before. As a note, if you’ve already pre-ordered your ticket, you can still use it whenever the movie comes out.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica Walpurgisnacht: Rising will be a direct sequel to Rebellion, which was the third movie in the original film trilogy and the first to move the story past what the show originally had. Aniplex first announced the movie back in April 2021. It was originally supposed to come out in Winter 2024, but in August 2024, it was announced that the movie would be pushed to Winter 2025.
