The initial trailer for it featured an elderly woman telling a story about a Promised Land to an Au Ra child. This place ended up frozen over. However, the Warrior of Light came from the stars to visit, with the wanderer changing everything.

The last Final Fantasy XIV expansion to appear was Dawntrail in July 2024, following the reveal of that newadd-on at the US FFXIV Fan Festival in 2023. It added the Tural region to the game, made female Hrothgar available as a race, and added the Pictomancer and Viper jobs to the game. Square Enix’s later patches implemented other elements like Cosmic Exploration Field Operations and the upcoming Beastmaster limited job.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the new expansion Evercold is in development and will appear in January 2027.
