NIS America and Ikina Games finally released the Switch 2 version of Starbites. The RPG was supposed to appear on May 21, 2026 worldwide alongside other versions. However, an unexpected delay struck just ahead of launch. It now shadowdropped on July 14, 2026.
This marks the arrival of two new additions on the eShop tied to the Switch 2 launch of Starbites. One is an Upgrade Pack for the existing Switch release that appeared at launch. That costs $4.99. The page isn’t live for it on the eShop yet, as only the Switch listing is present there as of time of writing. However, presumably it will mean a frame rate and resolution update. The other will be the dedicated new version of the RPG.
Back when the Switch 2 version of the game was delayed, NIS America didn’t offer any explanation as to why. However, that was the “new” port of the game, as previous versions already appeared in Japan on systems like the Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X back in October 2025.
As a reminder of how it looks and works, here’s the original launch trailer for the game back from May 2026. IkinaGames didn’t release a dedicated one for the Switch 2 release.
Starbites is available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
