Shueisha started the run of the new Shonen Jump + manga Mayori Academy worldwide. It’s a new series from Tatsu Murakoshi, who previously worked on a one shot. The first chapter is live on Manga Plus, and the second will release worldwide on August 23, 2026.
Mayori Academy is a slice-of-life and apparent action series about Sagume Amano, a young woman who happened upon a Gokumon gate years ago. After going through it, she finally returned home to the human world as a being known as a mayori. She ended up with oni horns and a familiar only she can see named Kisuke as a result. After returning, she was able to attend middle school and even graduated it. However, she found she had trouble fitting in. She only ever made one friend named Akane, and she later dropped out of high school when the two were forced to separate. The first chapter goes over her struggles as a mayori and her eventual decision to try and make a go of attending school and making friends again.
We’ve seen quite a few new manga series in Shonen Jump during Summer 2026. The one-shot Hitoner got turned into a full series. Hal Formula and Hey! Devil Girl also showed up. One of the other recent releases was Soon You’ll Paint Your Heart Out in July 2026.
Chapter 1 of the Mayori Academy Shonen Jump + manga is live worldwide now, and chapter 2 will launch on August 23, 2026.
