The official social media account for the Science Adventure Series warned that Mages will release a patch for Steins;Gate Re:Boot on August 20, 2026. Saves made prior to this patch cannot be accessed afterwards. They will instead disappear. This will affect Japanese copies first and foremost, as the game isn’t widely available worldwide as of time of writing.
This Steins;Gate Re:Boot patch will go live for the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’ll fix typos, bugs, and subtitles. As well, it’ll improve the presentation of the game. Here are the sizes of the patch for the different consoles:
- PS4: 1.3 GB
- PS5: 1.1 GB
- Switch: 2.3 GB
- Switch 2: 3.1 GB
Because saves made prior to the patch will stop working afterwards, you must play the game after the patch comes out. The game will come out on August 20, 2026, which is the date of the patch, so this mostly affects people who received an advance copy or found it ahead of launch. While the game will also come out on the Xbox Series X and PC, the statement did not mention that these platforms will receive a patch.
Steins;Gate Re:Boot will come out on August 20, 2026 in Japan for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch, Switch 2, and Windows PC. This version of the game will include English subtitles. You can also wait until October 29, 2026 for the global release.
