Namco Bandai and DeNA, the owner of the mobile phone Mobage social games platform, have established a joint venture in the form of a new company named BDNA.

Based in Tokyo, BDNA’s initial capitalization is funded 75% by Namco Bandai and 25% by DeNA, and is being set up with the intent of delivering social games to smartphones worldwide.

The company will be headed by executives from both DeNA and Namco Bandai, with Shin Unozawa, Executive Vice President & Representative Director of Namco Bandai, taking the reins. BDNA will begin operations in October.

DeNA recently launched their Mobage platform around the world on Android phones, with the help of their recently-acquired subsidiary, Ngmoco, and signed on major development talent to create games from existing series such as Harvest Moon and No More Heroes for the service.
