Project Awakened Promises To Let You Be A Superhero, Ninja, Samurai And More

Once upon a time, defunct publisher, Midway, had a project in development called “Hero”. We uncovered concept art from the game back in early 2011. Now, Hero is continuing at Chicago-based studio, Phosphor Games, as Project Awakened. Here’s a concept video for the game:

Phosphor’s ambitious goals for Project Awakened are as follows:

  • Create the video game character of your dreams
  • Play how you want in an immersive story
  • A game world that responds to your every move
  • Scores of abilities and weapons that modify each other
  • Seemingly limitless outfit and gear customization options
  • Built with breathtaking graphics tech in Unreal Engine 4
  • (Stretch Goal) The perfect Action Adventure Modding tool kit
  • (Stretch Goal) Multiplayer supporting a wide range of playstyles

Project Awakened is being developed on Epic’s new Unreal Engine 4 and is being funded via Kickstarter. Thus far, Phosphor Games’ Kickstarter campaign has received $22,751 in backings. The goal is to reach $500,000 by March 6th.

“Although the game has been in development for a few years, the money generated from the Kickstarter campaign will allow Phosphor Games to have a dedicated team help finish the title, as well as add a number of exciting features to the game,” Phosphor’s press release reads.

Project Awakened is in development for PCs. Chip Sineni, Phosphor Games’ Studio Director describes it as “a game that virtually every publisher loved, but was afraid to make”.
