Batman: Arkham Origins’ Lighting Inspired By Film Noir

Recommended Videos

Jeremy Price, art director on Batman: Arkham Origins, says that Warner Bros. Games Montreal are going for a different look with the new game, in a developer diary on GameInformer.com.

Price says that Arkham Origins will feature a low-key lighting presentation, with exaggerated shadows and a focus on silhouettes and profiles. Think of film noir, he says.

As previously detailed, Batman: Arkham Origins is set in Gotham City on Christmas Eve. The city is divided into different districts, including residential, commercial, industrial and more. Each district will have its own form of Christmas decorations, and since the game is set in Gotham, Price says some of these decorations may actually be more scary than jolly.

Price touches briefly upon Batman himself as well. Batman’s at an early point in his career, and this will be reflected in his suit as well, which is more “assembled’ as opposed to “manufactured”.

You can watch the full developer diary with Price’s comments on GameInformer.com.
