Amazon Debut First Kindle Games

Recommended Videos

First Apple, then Google, now Amazon. Everyone’s looking toward the games business as part of their expansion plans. In the case of Amazon, this past week marked the debut of games on the Kindle, both of them word-based and both free.

Publishers Weekly caught wind of the two titles early, despite the fact that Amazon neglected to make a release announcement. The first title, Every Word, is similar to Boggle, where you’re required to make as many words as possible from a set of letters before the timer runs out.

The second is a singleplayer version of Scrabble, named Shuffled Row. Both titles only work on the Kindle second-gen and DX devices, and not Kindle apps. It would appear both games were developed inhouse by Amazon themselves. Oddly, the two games are only available in the U.S. as well.
