The Epic Games Store has received a bit of a touch up before 2019 ends, to help pave the way into planned 2020 updates. A developer update goes over Coupons and the improved Library Grid View, the two additions already in effect, and the upcoming Epic Games Store Wishlist and Critic Reviews features that are on the way.
The two in-effect changes adjust elements already present. Epic Games Store Coupons are a way to get discounts on your purchases, as the name might suggest. The first appeared during the Creator Appreciation Event. People who used a Creator Link or Tag to make a purchase over $14.99 during that sale received one $10 Epic Coupon. Apparently, more ways to earn them will arrive soon. As for the Library Grid View, the game icon sizes have changed so you can see more titles and it better showcases information like large each game is and how often you’ve played it. Epic Games has also been working on ensuring the store runs faster.
As for the two planned features, one sounds further along than the other. Critic Reviews from websites will be appearing on product pages. These will let you know how many critics recommended the game and offer panels showing the name of the site, the name of the writer, their score, and a quote from the interview. This feature is in testing, so it could appear sooner than later. As for Epic Games Store Wishlists, the update notes that it is in development, though it is taking some time to get it working properly. The example shown suggests people would be able to sort by different criteria when looking through games on the list, like “recently added.”
In other Epic Games Store news, its holiday 2019 sale will begin today. This will kick off a 12 Days of Free Games event, which will give people free Epic Games Store games between December 19, 2019 and January 1, 2020.
