Pokemon GO Holiday Event Welcomes Cubchoos, Cryogonals, Festive Stantlers, and Beanie-Wearing Pikachus

The holiday season has come to Pokemon GO, and it has brought a number of new and festive Pokemon with it. Between December 24, 2019 and January 1, 2020, people will start seeing lots of seasonal characters and items. Most notably, people will start being able to catch Cryogonal and Cubchoo for the first time, different members of the Pikachu line have new holiday hats, and Stantler is wearing bells and could be shiny.

The new Pokemon are Cryogonal and Cubchoo. Both debuted in Pokemon Black and White. They could start appearing in the wild in Pokemon GO now. Both characters could appear anywhere, though placing a Glacial Lure can help. Acquiring enough Cubchoos will let you evolve it into Beartic.

The seasonal Pokemon GO characters this year are Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu, and Stantler. If you have a 7km egg, it could have a Pichu in a beanie or Stantler with bells inside. If you head to a raid, your target could be a Raichu in a beanie or Stantler with bells on. Meanwhile, beanie Pikachus are pretty much everywhere in the field. All of these holiday variants could be available in standard or shiny varieties. Also, shiny Snover and Abomasnow could be found during the 2019 winter holiday season.

A number of other festive activities are happening. Team Rocket has new Shadow Pokemon, like Delibird. You can buy new clothing for your avatar. You can open and carry twice as many gifts as usual. The first time you spin any PokeStop each day, you’ll get a single-use Incubator. There is new field research that makes it easier to see a Cubchoo, Pikachu in a snazzy new hat, and Snover. There will also be double Candy available December 24-25, 2019, double Stardust on December 26-27, 2019, double XP for catching Pokemon December 28-29, 2019, and eggs will only require half the amount of km to hatch between December 30, 2019 and January 1, 2020.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and Apple iOS devices.
