March Pokemon GO Community Day Postponed and Pokemon Will Come to You

There’s another good news/bad news situation that has come up as a result of the spread of COVID-10 coronavirus concerns and companies’ desires to not encourage people to enter potentially risky situation. The unfortunate news is that the March 2020 Pokemon GO Community Day, which was originally supposed to feature Abra and be held on March 15, 2020, has been postponed. However, the good news is that Niantic is taking measures to make it easier for people to hunt Pokemon from their own homes or without heading as far into the world.

Regarding the Pokemon GO Community Day, Niantic made the announcement on its official site. A new date for the event has not been set yet. Originally, it was only delayed for Italy, Japan, and South Korea, but now the postponement is more widespread. This comes after the Pokemon GO Safari Zone St. Louis was also delayed over concerns amid COVID-19.

As for making Pokemon GO easier to play without leaving either the house or your immediate vicinity, Niantic told Polygon that it is implementing multiple procedures to make things more enjoyable while people might be unable to move about as usual. Pokemon dens and density will be increased, so you’ll see more around than usual.

The price of Incense, the item that draws Pokemon to you, has been dropped to one coin for 30 of them. It also will draw characters in for an hour, instead of a half hour. If you visit a local PokeStop, your odds of getting a gift will be increased. Incubators will hatch eggs in half the time, so say a 10km egg would hatch in 5km.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. Niantic has not yet set a date for the rescheduled March 2020 Pokemon GO Community Day or noted an end date for things like discounted Incense and reduced egg hatching distances.
