It’s Alien Day, and Alien: Blackout Is Free to Celebrate

It’s April 26, 2020, and that means it’s Alien Day! Back in 2018, when the classic horror franchise came back with Alien: Covenant, various branding partners decided to make an annual holiday out of it. The future of Alien Day seems to be up in the air a bit, largely thanks to the latest corporate takeover, but there are a few goodies this year. Art company Mondo has some new licensed merchandise available, and Reebok has made some intense space marine shoes. In our neck of the woods, you can find Alien Isolation on sale on various digital marketplaces such as the Nintendo eShop, but thanks to publisher D3 Go! there’s also a small freebie: Alien: Blackout

On April 26, 2020, you can hop over to a mobile marketplace of your choice and snag Rival Games’ Alien: Blackout for free. This is a small-scale mobile game set somewhere around Alien Isolation, starring Amanda Ripley as she tries to guide her crew safely out of an abandoned Weyland-Yutani space station. Gameplay seems inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, with Amanda monitoring the space station’s controls to manage power supplies and help keep her crew safe via door controls and other functions while an Alien stalks the halls and vents.

Alien: Blackout is normally a premium, one-time purchase game, so Alien Day 2020 is a good opportunity to sate your curiosity if you’re an Alien fan. If you want to snag your Alien Blackout free download, it’s available for iOS, Android, and Amazon Fire.

Lucas writes about video games a lot and is a former Siliconera editor. Sometimes he plays them. Every now and then he enjoys one. To get on his good side, say nice things about Dragon Quest and Musou. Never mention the Devil May Cry reboot in his presence. Backed Bloodstained on Kickstarter but all his opinions on it are correct regardless.
