17 days from its release, MonHan Nikki Mobile Airu Mura, which is based in the same village as its PSP cousin, Nikki Poka Poka Airu Mura, has already attracted 500,000 players to it, becoming one of the most popular games on the “Mobage-town” platform on mobile phones.

Both Airu Mura games, which star the series’s mascot Felyne characters, feature a large number of customization options and are designed to be more approachable than traditional Monster Hunter titles.

While the PSP game comes on a UMD, Mobile Airu Mura is free to play, and operates on a micro-transaction revenue model. Capcom have stated that Mobile Airu Mura is part of an ongoing effort to expand the reach of the Monster Hunter brand.
