No Monster Hunter Rise Voice Chat Will Be Available

Lots of Monster Hunter Rise interviews are appearing, primarily in Japan, and all of them are offering insights on what people can expect from the game. However, a detail from IGN’s report suggests that talking while working together will end up requiring outside intervention. When Casey DeFreitas spoke to Director Yasunori Ichinose and Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, it turned out that there will be no Monster Hunter Rise voice chat support.

While there isn’t a means of direct voice chat on the console, Nintendo Switch Online members are able to carry on conversations while playing certain games through the official mobile app. However, only certain games support Nintendo Switch Online voice chat. The official list includes games like Dragon Quest Builders, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and Stardew Valley.

During IGN’s interview, Nintendo Switch Online Monster Hunter Rise voice chat support was denied. The game will have in-game methods of communication, like the premade gestures and stickers we saw in Monster Hunter World. (Also, people could always turn to an outside messenger like Discord or Google Hangouts to start a voice chat with friends while playing.)

IGN’s talk with Ichinose and Tsujimoto also brought up some other details. For example, Monster Hunter Rise cutscenes could be skipped, if a player wants to pass over them. There will also be quests that can only be played alone or only involve other people. The icons will be adjusted to make them clearer and easier to understand on the Switch. Also, Monster Hunter Generations’ Prowler Mode won’t return.

Monster Hunter Rise will come to the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.
