Bandai Namco announced that the PS4 free-to-play game Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 can be played as-is on the PS5. Those who have played the game on PlayStation 4 can continue their progress on PlayStation 5 with the same save data and PlayStation Network account. We previously learned that the PlayStation 5 will be compatible with 99% of PlayStation 4 games, both physically and digitallyGundam Battle Operation 2 certainly didn’t make it into the PS4-only games list, and this announcement from Bandai Namco further cemented the fact that this game can also be played on the PS5.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 is a free-to-play online team battle action game based on the Universal Century timeline. It mostly featured Mobile Suits from the UC 0079 One Year War all the way to Gundam Sentinel and Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ in UC 0088.

While most of the battles in the game take place on land or in space, a recent update released in September 2020 added a new underwater battle system. This addition gives more spotlights to amphibious Mobile Suits in the series, such as Acguy and Z’Gok.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 is immediately available on the PlayStation 4. It launched first in Japan on July 26, 2018. It is now available in not only Asia but also North America, where it launched in the latter region on October 1, 2019.
