The PC, Android, and iOS apps all received this update, with app names even changing from PS4 Remote Play to PS Remote Play, to signify the inclusion of PS5 support. The patch notes were shared too, primarily pointing to the new name and PS5 remote play support. However, it also added a feature that remembers any PS4 custom controls you have set up and takes away Windows 8.1 support.

The addition also lets you look at the PS5 remote play options, even if you don’t already have a system to connect to it. For example, it will offer HDR support if you click the “enable” HDR option and are playing on a platform that can support it. It also noted that resolution options that start at 360p and go up to 1080p will be available.

The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12, 2020 in Australia, Japan, North America, and South Korea, then appear worldwide on November 19, 2020.
