First Final Fantasy VII Remake Patch Is Here to Squash Bugs

They say a change will do you good, and people will get to see firsthand if that is true with Final Fantasy VII. That’s because finally, months after its April 10, 2020 debut, the first Final Fantasy VII Remake patch appeared on October 20, 2020. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many details about exactly what the update does, especially since it isn’t live everywhere yet. [Thanks, Twisted Voxel!]

Basically, this first update only squashes bugs. Which bugs? Well, we’ll have to wait for firsthand reports from people who play through the Final Fantasy VII Remake patch. Square Enix’s official notes only mentioned “various bugs” and its under a 200mb download.

This means it took about six months for anything to roll out regarding the game. But, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been some updates along the way. For example, in August 2020, the DLC other people bought Butterfinger candy for was doled out to everyone for free. It’s also gone on sale a few times. We also know that exclusivity arrangement for the game will be up in April 2021, which means we could hear about a possible port to another platform in the next few months.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PlayStation 4. The first Final Fantasy VII Remake patch is rolling out now.
