Quantum Suicide Visual Novel Developer Will Attempt to Port to Vita

On October 30, 2020, MoltenCherry, the person at the helm of the “one-man team that is Cotton Candy Cyanide” posted a tweet to the Australian indie game development company’s twitter account saying that they would be attempting to port their recent game, Quantum Suicide, to the PlayStation Vita.

They went on to clarify that they do not consider themselves a trained game developer, saying, “I’m a solo developer who hasn’t yet developed for a console, nor Unity.” They then added, “This means development could be a fair bit more rocky than it would for those better prepared.”

MoltenCherry also relayed the fact that they are student who will not be focusing 100% of their development time on the Quantum Suicide Vita port. Other developers and “industry experts” have reportedly encouraged them to abandon an attempt at the port, but MoltenCherry says, “I love my Vita and the community around it, and if I have a chance to support the console and its community (even if it’s not financially ideal) I will do my best! And if I don’t get the port across the line before the Vita ship goes down, so be it!”

Quantum Suicide is a visual novel described on its Steam page as “a game of betrayal, deception and romance in the cold depths of space.” In it, players combat an AI and try to survive “the deletion game,” which is as ominous as it sounds.

Quantum Suicide originally fell short of its funding goal on Kickstarter. A second attempt at funding proved successful, however. Quantum Suicide released on September 10, 2020 and is now available for PC and Mac via Steam and itch.io.
