New Poke Ball Replica Will Respond to Your Touch

The Pokemon 25th anniversary isn’t even here yet, but we already know one of the premium items that will show up as part of the celebration. The Wand Company will make Poke Ball replicas. They’ll cost $99.99, and the line will begin with the original red-and-white Poke Ball on February 27, 2020. The only downside is, it is a “display piece” that you can’t actually throw.

The official site is open for the first Poke Ball replica, to give people an idea of what to expect. You get a die-cast Poke Ball model, which uses three AAA batteries to make it light up. When you open the box, the box will light up at the bottom. (You can change the color by pressing the “Pokemon Poke Ball” plaque.) When you hover over it or touch it, the proximity and touch sensors will kick in. If you press its button, it will react as though you are actually catching a Pokemon.

There’s a video that shows off some of the light elements. However, it doesn’t show off the light sequence you can trigger by pressing the button on the replica.

While the standard Poke Ball is first, other Poke Ball replicas will appear in 2021. The Great Ball, Premier Ball, and Ultra Ball have been confirmed, though there’s no word as to whether or not a Master Ball will appear.

The Wand Company’s die-cast Poke Ball will launch on February 27, 2020, with pre-orders open now.
