Spiribirds are a new creature coming to the game. Each Spiribird is a “Permabuffer” with a body covered in pollen. This pollen interacts with the Hunter’s Petalace characters wear on their wrist to create a boost to the wearers attributes. Green Spiribirds raise overall health, yellow Spiribirds increase stamina, red Spiribirds increase attack, and orange Spiribirds increase defense. There are also rainbow-colored Spiribirds, although details about their effect are currently unavailable.

The recent Monster Hunter Rise trailer from The Game Awards 2020 revealed other new creatures like a flying, bat-like monster called “Bishaten” and a scaley aquatic creature called “Somnacanth,” too. The Somnacanth is likely to appear in the new Flooded Forest level, which will feature a dense forest with ruins for the player to scale using the new wirebug item. Additionally, it was confirmed that Royal Ludroth and Great Wroggi would be returning with this entry into the series.

Monster Hunter Rise launches on the Nintendo Switch worldwide on March 26, 2021. A demo is expected to release in January 2021 for a limited amount of time.
