There’s an update regarding the European Zarude code distribution, and it is good news for people concerned about getting the special character in the midst of a pandemic. It turns out people won’t have to go to store websites to add the character to their collection. Instead, Mystery Gift codes will be doled out the same way they were in the US, which is via the Pokemon Trainer Club email newsletter. [Thanks, Serebii!]
Here’s how it will work. People in Europe need to visit the official Pokemon website and make a Pokemon Trainer Club account. If they do so and are on the email newsletter list by December 18, 2020, then they’ll get an email with a Zarude code that can be used in Pokemon Sword or Shield. It will be a level 60 Zarude with the Leaf Guard ability and Close Combat, Power Whip, Snarl, and Swagger moves.
Meanwhile, people in the United States might have already seen their codes come in. Back when the Zarude code distribution was announced in November 2020, The Pokemon Company International said people who joined the Pokemon Trainer Club in the United States would get an email with their code on December 11, 2020. I can attest that the Pokemon Sword and Shield Mystery Gift code arrived that day. It can be redeemed until March 31, 2021.
Pokemon Sword and Shield are available for the Nintendo Switch. The Zarude code newsletters already went out in North America, while people in Europe can sign up to ensure they get one before December 18, 2020.
